On 10th November 2023, the Fröbel Research Centre Professorship Schmid at the University of Erfurt received the materials from Dr Erika Knechtel’s collection. This unique collection of material on Friedrich Froebel is the culmination of the life’s work of Dr Erika Knechtel, a renowned Froebel researcher in the former German Democratic Republic. At the age of 82, the documents collected by the individual were handed over in 42 folders to Prof. Dr Andrea C. Schmid, the head of the Fröbel Research Centre, who holds the professorship for Inclusive Education Research at the university. The material has expanded the current archive and is currently undergoing scientific research. It is available for viewing during the Fröbel Research Centre’s opening hours.
